Aiden May, the former Sandia High School baseball star, is gearing up for an exciting 2026 season. After a challenging rookie season with the Miami Marlins' farm system, May is determined to make a strong comeback. Despite a minor injury during spring training disrupting his timeline, he remains optimistic about his future in the MLB.
"A healthy year would be ideal," May expressed. "I've been working on various aspects, but an injury in spring training set me back. I initially aimed to join the major leagues in my second year, but the setback pushed that goal further. However, I'm confident it's achievable this year, and I'm dedicated to making it happen."
Selected in the 2024 draft, May's professional debut was cut short due to a minor injury. Yet, his resilience and determination shone through as he recovered and regained his strength. The 22-year-old pitcher's performance in the Arizona Fall League was impressive, holding hitters to a .147 batting average. This success has fueled his motivation for the upcoming season.
"The feedback I've received has been honest and direct," May shared. "They don't sugarcoat it, which is exactly what I need. If I'm not ready for the big leagues now, they provide clear guidance on what I must do to get there."
With spring training approaching, May is more determined than ever. He believes his hard work and recent success position him well for a push towards the MLB, despite the challenges. "Some may think it's unrealistic," he said, "but I firmly believe it's possible. I'm confident I can reach the MLB this year, even if it's not the most likely outcome."
May's enthusiasm and dedication are evident as he prepares for the new season. Whether he starts in High-A or Double-A, he's ready to begin 2026 with full force. "I feel fantastic," he exclaimed. "This is the best I've felt in a long time."
May will join spring training in mid-February, eager to take on the new year with renewed vigor and a strong chance of reaching the MLB.
