The Honor Magic8 Pro's battery performance is a game-changer, but there's a catch! In our hands-on review, we uncovered intriguing variations in battery capacity across regions. The Chinese model boasts a massive 7,200mAh battery, while the European version settles for a slightly smaller 6,270mAh.
But here's where it gets interesting: the Magic8 Pro's battery life is impressive, outperforming many competitors. Our tests revealed an Active Use Score of 19:07 hours, showcasing its endurance. However, the Oppo Find X9 Pro still reigns supreme with its 7,500mAh battery.
Charging speed is another highlight. The global model supports 100W charging, but the Chinese variant takes it up a notch with 120W proprietary charging. We put it to the test, and the results were fascinating. Using the Honor 100W adapter, we achieved a rapid charge to 100% in just 40 minutes. USB Power Delivery adapters also performed well, but the phone's charging speed varies depending on the adapter's capabilities.
And this is the part most people miss: the charging process doesn't end at 100%. There's a trickle-charging phase that extends the process by about 25 minutes. Moreover, the Magic8 Pro supports wireless charging up to 80W with its dedicated charger, but third-party chargers may not deliver the same performance.
Stay tuned for our full review, where we'll dive deeper into the Magic8 Pro's battery life and charging capabilities, and explore the implications of these regional variations. But for now, we want to hear from you: do you think the regional differences in battery capacity are justified? Would you prioritize charging speed over battery size?
