In a shocking turn of events, Rohini Acharya, the daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has made a bold move by quitting politics and severing ties with her family. This announcement comes as a response to the recent drubbing faced by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the Bihar Assembly elections, where the party managed to secure only 25 seats.
Rohini's decision, as she stated on X, was influenced by Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, and she takes full responsibility for it.
"I'm stepping away from politics and disowning my family. This is what Sanjay and Rameez advised, and I bear the consequences," she wrote.
This move follows a series of family disputes within the Yadav clan. Earlier, Lalu Prasad Yadav had severed all ties with his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, expelling him from the party due to his "irresponsible behavior."
The RJD, which had previously emerged as the single largest party in the 2015 and 2020 Assembly elections, suffered a significant setback this time around. The Congress managed to win six seats, while the Left parties, CPI(ML) Liberation and CPI(M), secured three seats together. In total, the Grand Alliance could only claim 34 seats.
In contrast, the NDA crossed the 200-seat mark, with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United) winning 89 and 85 seats, respectively. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha secured 19, 5, and 4 seats, respectively.
Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party, which was seen by many as a potential game-changer, failed to make a significant impact, winning no seats in the two-phase election held on November 6 and 11.
This political drama has left many questioning the future of the Yadav family's political legacy. With Rohini's decision to disown her family, it raises the question: Is this the end of a political dynasty, or just a temporary setback? What do you think?
