Their latest collaboration, the TZ30, a joint effort by Massena LAB and Raúl Pagès, marks a significant milestone: the 30th anniversary of TimeZone.com, the pioneering online watch community established in 1995. This watch proudly continues the legacy of previous collaborations, including the Magraph, Absinthe, and Noctograph. Each of these watches is deeply rooted in the traditions of observatory-grade timekeeping, exuding an understated elegance that appeals to discerning enthusiasts.
The TZ30 boasts a classic Calatrava-style stainless steel case, measuring 38.5mm in diameter and 10mm in thickness. Its polished mid-century profile offers a harmonious blend of modern comfort and vintage charm. The sapphire crystal features a double-sided anti-reflective coating, ensuring optimal clarity, while the exhibition caseback is etched with a tribute to TimeZone's three-decade legacy and the watch's unique serial number.
The dial immediately captures the eye: a deep, vertically brushed blue surface that dances between indigo and cobalt hues under varying light conditions. The minimalist “observatory” layout pays homage to the Patek Philippe Ref. 2458, a unique piece crafted for J.B. Champion in 1952. A small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock is elegantly balanced by the inscription “Observatory Precision” at 3 o’clock. The rhodium-plated feuille hands and baton indices provide a crisp, luminous contrast against the dial's textured backdrop.
At the heart of the TZ30 beats the Massena LAB calibre M690, a manual-winding movement based on the AMT Manufacture AMT6600, expertly revised by Pagès. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this movement offers a generous 60-hour power reserve. The finishing, visible through the sapphire caseback, showcases Côtes de Genève stripes, polished bevels, and a perlage field that surrounds the hand-engraved poinçon Pagès, the signature small tortoise that has become the watchmaker's hallmark. It's important to note that Raúl Pagès himself does not directly participate in the production or decoration of the movement, but it is manufactured under his supervision by a network of Swiss contractors.
The watch is paired with a handmade Italian calfskin strap in a warm mocha brown, complemented by white stitching, and secured with a steel pin buckle.
