Ukraine's military strikes against Russia have intensified, targeting critical infrastructure and ammunition supplies. This bold move by Ukraine's armed forces has put Moscow's military logistics under immense pressure.

Ukraine claims to have successfully hit a major Russian ammunition plant, an oil terminal, and a weapons depot, all located deep within Russian territory. The Ukrainian General Staff reported multiple explosions and a fire at the Sverdlov ammunition plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which supplies Russian forces with a range of ordnance.
In addition, Ukraine struck an oil terminal in Crimea, causing a blaze, and targeted an ammunition depot belonging to Russia's 18th Combined Arms Army. These long-range attacks have had a significant impact on Russia's fuel supply, contributing to shortages at the pump in August.

Ukraine's own weapons production has been a key focus, especially in the development of drones. Ukrainian authorities have made it their mission to enhance their domestic capabilities, striving to counter Russia's invasion and strike deeper into Russian territory. Despite Russia's larger economy and army, Ukraine has managed to limit Russian advances to slow and costly progress.
Uncertain of Western military support, Ukraine has rapidly expanded its defense manufacturing capacity. It has already shared its drone expertise with European countries and is discussing potential cooperation with the United States. Ukrainian officials have expressed interest in obtaining Tomahawk cruise missiles from the US to target Russian assets more effectively.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine's increasing reliance on domestically developed long-range drones and missiles. He stated that Ukraine expects to expand its capabilities with funding from abroad.

Zelenskyy's comments suggest that Ukraine is becoming more self-sufficient in its weapons production, reducing its dependence on foreign aid. This could spark differing opinions on whether Ukraine's military strategy is sustainable in the long term.
Many of the weapons used by Ukrainian forces on the front lines are now domestically produced. Ukraine's defense industry has grown exponentially, and by the end of this year, it aims to provide at least half of the weapons needed by its troops.
